Home Karaoke Machine Basics for the Most Fun
A home karaoke machine isn’t for everyone, but the people who love it really cherish this hobby. It’s a great way to enjoy music by actually being a part of the entertainment. It’s not like watching television or movies where you simply sit back and enjoy the developments on screen. Karaoke gives you a chance to be the center of attention where you actually are the entertainment for the night! It’s absolutely thrilling to be able to sing in a bar and there are great ways to replicate that feeling in your own home. A lot of people are intimidated at first, but you might just find that it’s a hobby that you can get into quite easily.
There are a few pitfalls of buying home equipment you need to be aware of before laying down your hard-earned money. A lot of people make the mistake of rushing out and buying the most expensive system they can find in electronics store. While models loaded with bells and whistles are certainly tempting, they are not necessary if you’re new to the hobby. In fact, even karaoke veterans tend to go for more moderate pieces of equipment because many of the extras are features they will never use. At the heart of it, all you really need is a good machine that provides solid sound in terms of both of vocals and music. Anything beyond that is just extra, and you have to carefully balance whether or not you need some any features.
You will also have to make a decision between a self-contained display or a karaoke system that integrates into your pre-existing home entertainment system. The advantage of a self-display machine is its portable nature which allows you to set it up anywhere you like. Some people prefer designating a corner in the room entirely for singing and music. Smaller box machines are also portable enough to bring to parties if you want to liven up any event. On the other hand, more sophisticated DVD type karaoke machines are obviously tied down by wires integrated into your entertainment system. But the advantage to this type of setup is being able to use your larger screen TV and pre-existing sound system.
Keep in mind that most karaoke packages come with one machine and a single microphone, and you might get a sample CD with karaoke songs thrown into the mix. That means you’ll also need to consider money in your budget for an extra microphone, related peripherals, and a good starting selection of music. Remember that a great collection of music is going to be the key feature you need, and it’s a good idea to have a wide selection of compilations that cover plenty of genres. Even if you don’t like a particular style of music, it’s good to have different CDs on hand for when you throw parties with all your friends.
Make It Big In Music with Youtube
Before the age of the internet, in order to break into the music industry, you had to play hundreds of gigs anywhere you can and hope that you one day get discovered. These days, things have changed thanks to the internet. If you’re looking for ways of making money from home with an online business involving your music, then Youtube could be your ticket. A few years ago, musicians would put their music up on Myspace. Some bands did make it big but for the most part, it was hard to get noticed since there were so many people putting up Myspace pages for their music. There was no personal touch to it.
Today, we have Youtube, a site that allows you to not only share your music to the world but to also interact with your audience as well through videos. The current, most famous Youtuber who made it huge in the music industry is Justin Bieber. Say what you want about his music but he went from being a kid singing and playing music on Youtube to being worth close to 100 million dollars.
Will you have the same success? Not likely but there are plenty of people getting discovered on Youtube. Even if you don’t get signed by some record company, if you have enough subscribers, you could sell your music yourself through sites like itunes.

Learning about classical music
My normal occupation has to do with stock market investing advice but I thought that, for a change, I would share some reflections with you about learning and appreciating classical music. Many people are put off by the apparent complexity of this process but, if you stay away, you are staying away from some of the greatest music that you can listen to. If you are equipped with a little basic knowledge, learning to appreciate classical music is a pretty straightforward process.
To start with, you may wonder what exactly classical music is. It is a term that is applied to a particular genre of music but it encompasses many different styles that have emerged in its 700 years of existence. Today, the Merriam-Webster dictionary definition of classical is “of, relating to, or being music…that includes such forms as art song, chamber music, opera, and symphony.”
It is generally accepted that there are six different periods of classical music according to differences in style and these are as follows:
- Pre-1400 – Medieval music that is characterized by chunks that are religious in nature such as the Gregorian chant
- 1400 to 1600 – Renaissance music where the features were at an increasing secular content in place of religious content as well as songs as an art form
- 1600 to 1750 – Baroque music which is famous for its complex and ornamental style
- 1750 to 1820 – Classical music with a balanced and structured style
- 1820 to 1900 – Romantic music performed on a large-scale and full of emotion
- Beyond 1900 – Twentieth Century music with no defined characteristics or limits.
Even though you may not realize it, you are already familiar with classical music which you may have heard while watching TV or the movies. The best way to start is to listen to the popular composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, and Bach. Just forget about the technical stuff and concentrate on the beauty of the music. Like all great music, you don’t have to know anything about music to appreciate the beauty.
Michael Buble Christmas Album Review
Michael Buble has really taken a liking to recording Christmas albums. This will be his second Christmas album, ‘Let it Snow’ was his first Christmas album released back in 2007. Now, Buble is trying it again four years later, covering all of the best Christmas songs. Does he deliver? Well let’s take a look at some of the tracks on the album.
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas:
Buble does this classic Christmas song justice and really delivers a great vocal performance. He keeps the song simple and makes sure that the only distraction is his voice.
White Christmas:
Shania Twain sings along with Buble in this song, yeah you read it right, Shania Twain! What a way to make a comeback, huh? Her voice is beautiful in this song and dare I say she outshines Buble? Hm, I’ll let you be the judge.
Santa Baby (Buddy):
This track is one of the best on the album, I am sure this will be one of your favorites as well. Buble puts his own flare on this classic song and I think I like it better than the original! Who wouldn’t want a Rolex for Christmas?
Jingle Bells:
The Puppini Sisters team up with Buble in this track and for me it just does not work. Jingle Bells is one of my favorite Christmas songs, but to me they did way too much with it. The melody seems out of place, the Puppini Sisters are too loud in the song and Buble is hardly even noticeable.
Silent Night:
Buble does this song justice. I am very critical of ‘Silent Night’ covers because it is such a precious and beautiful song. It’s important to just focus on the lyrics and Buble does just that. I am not saying it’s the best version of the song, but it is definitely top-notch.
Blue Christmas:
The best track on the Album, in my opinion. His voice was made for this song and he gives Elvis Presley a run for his money for the title of, ’Best Blue Christmas Cover Ever.’
The album is jam packed with a total of fifteen Christmas classics. If you buy any Christmas album this season, I would highly recommend that you buy this one. It would make a great stocking stuffer, or it would be great to turn on during your Christmas party.
